Permitted for the wrong side of the street

The building permit issued on June 20, 1930 authorized the Bace Construction Company to erect the three-story temple for a structure cost of $105,035. The permit reads “1101 Harvard,” the odd side of the street, where a Gulf filling station stood.

The building rose across the street at 1100, undisturbed by the paperwork. The research corpus is full of such address garbles at this corner; the permit is the founding example.
