Thirty-five costumes and a lawn carnival

1934

In March 1934 the Rainbow Girls staged an “Old Time Style Show” at the temple, a pageant of more than thirty-five vintage costumes drawn from Heights closets. That August the Assembly’s carnival and benefit opened at 4:30 on the temple lawn.

Between the plays, recitals, dances, suppers, and shows, the temple’s calendar in these years reads like the social register of an entire neighborhood, because that is what it was.
